Summertime at the beach

It is amazing how much energy dogs have! I find they often have no idea when to quit and it is our job to remind them. Just like toddlers, we need to make them take a nap so they can continue enjoying the beach!

Diligence is the mother of good fortune! this Dalmation was very diligent! when he smiled you could even see how his teeth had been worn by grabbing the salty ball !

Best things in life are free!

Sometimes the best things in life are free!

Dogs dont need fancy toys.

They just need a human to take the time to play, any old stick will do!

Salty Dogs - Book signing !

Saturday , Winchester Book Gallery hosted a signing of Salty Dogs. They had a friend bring his sweet Basset Hound to help promote the signing.

Patiently, she sat out in the sun, on her boggie board, and directed people inside to have their book signed.

In addition to signing books I got to meet a lot of nice people. One person was Courtnei of The Barking Blog. We talked for a while, I got to admire Bear, her mini Aussie, and internet people once more got to connect in person. They drove all the way from Annapolis!

Fall is here!

While this weekend is the offical end of summer, there is plenty of time left to hit the beach. After school starts back , things are a lot quieter at the beach and many of the beaches allow dogs again.
the sand is cooler, the water warm and best of all , the beach is empty!

Hit the Road Jack!

Unless you are lucky enough to live close enough to the beach to walk there, make sure your dog is safe on the way there. Crate or seat belt system, you need to buckle them up for safety!
Molly uses the Roadie and sits safely secured in the back seat. She can move around enough to be comfortable, can sit or lie down and if she was only big enough, she could see out the back window!

Big enough Stick??

Jacko, the feisty Jack Russell Terrier of Huntington Beach, has found a treasure! He really doesn't care that the stick is big enough for a Mastiff. Go , Jacko, go!

Happy Face!

We all want our dogs to be happy, and after a day at the beach, a canine grin is sure to be your reward, even if you have to carry them home!

The next best thing!

Molly is enjoying looking at her advance copy of Salty Dogs. Reading the book is going to be the next best thing to being at the beach! The book will be out Sept 24th. While Molly likes to look at the pictures of her, there are pictures of Labs, Goldens, German Shepherds, Rat Terriers, Borzoi, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Wheaton Terriers, Boston Terriers and more. All of them are enjoying the beach in their own way.

Did I do that?

Picking up the poop is so important! Take a bag, actually take two or three and pick up what your dog leaves behind. It is amazing how many owners cover it up and leave. How about if it was your child that came down to dig in the sand and uncovered an unexpected treasure? Poop is the reason dogs have been banned at many beaches. Pick it up so we can continue to let our dogs enjoy the freedom of the beach!

Time to go!

One last look, then it is time for home , a bath and a nap. Some dogs refuse to leave and have to be carried away. There is always tommorrow.

Find your own fun!

Some dogs naturally find a way to entertain themselves. First this way, then that way, tail chasing gives this beach loving JRT a lot of fun in the sun. And best of all if nothing exciting is happening, the tail is always available.

Keep Our Beaches Clean!

Molly is doing her part to keep the beach clean. Are you ? Picking up poop on the beach will not only keep the beaches clean, but will encourage communities to keep beaches open to dogs!

Never too old!

No dog is ever too old to enjoy the beach. They may not be able run, swim and romp anymore, but they do enjoy the sun and the sand. Besides they get to be with you and have your undivided attention!

That wave looks big!

Keeping a safe distance this JRT checks out the wave action. Later he leapt right in and swam with the big boys.

Can you dig it?

These girls needed a helping paw to start their sand castle. Molly was more than willing to help, or should I say hinder?

A Kiss can make it better!

After getting rolled by a wave, Molly gets saved and gets a much needed kiss.

Roll with the flow

Nothing can be finer than rolling on a dead crab. Finding it is great, rolling in it is better and going home smelling to high heaven is priceless!
